What is it?

Menopause Management was formulated by The Clark Center for Urogynecology to help patients through the change of life. This formula may help relieve the symptoms of menopause, including: hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood swings and bone health.

What’s in it?

Black Cohosh's – main use is for the treatment of menopausal symptoms. Meaningful evidence indicates that black cohosh extract might reduce hot flashes as well as other symptoms of menopause. In the past, black cohosh was believed to be a phytoestrogen, a plant-based substance that has actions similar to estrogen. Growing evidence indicates that black cohosh does not have general estrogen-like actions. Rather, it may act like estrogen only in certain places: the brain (reducing hot flashes), bone (potentially fighting osteoporosis), and vagina (reducing vaginal dryness).

Chaste Tree Extract – has become a standard European treatment for cyclic breast tenderness, a condition related to PMS that is sometimes called cyclic mastitis, cyclic mastalia, mastodynia, or fibrocystic breast disease. Chasteberry also appears to be useful for general PMS symptoms. Chasteberry is believed to work by suppressing the release of prolactin from the pituitary gland. Prolactin is a hormone that naturally rises during pregnancy to stimulate milk production. Inappropriately increased production of prolactin may be a factor in cyclic breast tenderness, as well as other symptoms of PMS. Elevated prolactin levels can also cause a woman's period to become irregular and even stop. For this reason, chasteberry is sometimes tried when menstruation is irregular, or stops altogether.

Dong Quai – is often recommended as a treatment for menstrual cramps, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and other problems related to menstruation, as well as hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms. One of the major herbs used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine, Angelica sinensis is closely related to European Angelica archangelica, a common garden herb and the flavoring in Benedictine and Chartreuse liqueurs. The carrot-like roots of this fragrant plant are harvested in the fall after about 3 years of cultivation and stored in airtight containers prior to processing.

Licorice – has been suggested as a treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), based on the observation that people with CFS appear to suffer from low levels of certain adrenal hormones. The glycyrrhizin portion of licorice may relieve symptoms by mimicking the effects of these hormones.

Resveratrol – is a natural antioxidant found in red wine. Antioxidants protect cells in the body from damage by free radicals, naturally occurring but harmful substances that are thought to play a role in cardiovascular disease. Resveratrol is also a phytoestrogen, a substance that mimics some of the effects of estrogen, while blocking others.
